Negotiations
Chairperson: Jordann Hardin

Each spring, PCACT begins preparing for negotiations by listening to PC educators. Through district-wide surveys, conversations with teachers, and discussions among members, we gather feedback about the issues that matter most in our schools. Members interested in serving on the Negotiations Team submit an application and are interviewed by the Executive Committee. The selected team is designed to represent both elementary and secondary educators and is approved by the Building Representatives. Working together with the Executive Committee and guided by member input, the Negotiations Committee develops proposals that reflect the priorities, concerns, and professional needs of Putnam City teachers. Every step of the process is grounded in the belief that the strongest contract is built on the voices of the educators it serves.

Throughout the summer, the PCACT Negotiations Team meets with district representatives to negotiate the terms of the teacher contract. Using the priorities identified by members, the team works to improve salaries, benefits, working conditions, and other issues that impact educators and students. As negotiations progress, updates are shared with members whenever possible. Once a tentative agreement is reached, the proposed contract is presented to teachers for review and ratification. After approval by both teachers and the Putnam City Board of Education, the agreement becomes the contract that guides the upcoming school year. Our goal throughout the process is simple: to advocate for educators, strengthen our profession, and support the success of every Putnam City school.
